Demodara loop station
The station is most notable for its spiral rail line at this location, popularly known as the 'Demodara Loop'. The rail line passes under itself, going around the loop and emerging from a tunnel, which runs directly beneath the Demodara railway station.
Nine arch bridge at Demodara
The Demodara nine arch railway bridge is located between Demodara and Ella railway stations. Specialty of this bridge is that, it’s constructed with stones, bricks and cement, but without any steel. Construction of this bridge was started during the First World War time and British government was not in a position to provide the required steel supply for the constructions. So the construction was delayed and a local resident call Mr. P.K. Appuhamy came up with the plan of building with only bricks, stones and cement. He got the approval and support from the British engineers and today you can see the results of his team’s effort.
We are proceeding to Sinharaja to visit the most important rain forest in Sri Lanka. Sinharaja Forest Reserveis a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. Due to Its of international significance, it has been designated as a Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Sinharaja Forest Reserve
Sinharaja Forest Reserve is the largest lowland rainforest in Sri Lanka. This Unesco-listed, richly biodiverse habitat, bordered by rivers, is rich in wildlife, including rare mammals and many endemic birds. Unlike most Sri Lankan national parks, access to the forest is only on foot, accompanied by a ranger or guide.

Unawatuna Beach
The beach is semi-circular and stretches approximately one kilometer. Unawatuna is also known for its sea turtle population and tourists are able to witness them laying eggs along the shore at various times during the year.
