Wilpattu is Sri Lanka’s largest national park with an area of 130,000 hectare. The unique feature of Wilpattu National Park is the existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater.
Wilpattu is a Non-Hunting Area and you may watch many endemic Mammals, Birds, and Reptiles & Butterflies from your naked eyes here.
The main draw in Wilpattu is the leopard and sloth bear. It is also one of the better parks to see barking deer.
